Anonymous asked: What if Julia was part of the IPRE?

here’s how things work:

julia accompanies her husband to neverwinter and when they return to their hometown it no longer exists. her father is dead. her friends are dead and injured and rebuilding. julia is a woman with a spine like iron and a soul like a forge. julia is fucking devastated. her husband is devastated as well - they bled for this place. they thought it was safe.

“do we stay?” she asks him when theyre lying in a rented bed. “they’re rebuilding, and…”

“i’ll go wherever you want,” he says to her.

“kalen needs to die. my dad—” her voice chokes off.

“Okay, honey,” magnus says, holding her tighter. he’s crying too.

so they leave. they’re following the trail of a man who is an expert at setting himself up as legitimate. these arent bad days — the irony is that they meant to go adventuring, together, and you get everything you want in life but never in the way you want it.

they take a job with the weird magic elf and the weird religious dwarf cleric, and well, you know that story, that goes all fuckways.

there are four of them jumping in the well in phandolin, and magnus and julia kind of look at each other and it kind of feels like every town they go to, they let die.

___

the director stares at the four of them across the room, and she knew that magnus got married, but its so strange seeing the proof standing across from her.

julia recognizes the white-haired woman. she was there when magnus moved into town. something isnt adding up.

“welcome to the  bureau of balance,” the director says.
